There is a fire raging in Eurasia, the area between Europe and Asia, that’s right in front of the Turkish borders. The disaster struck the Semitic people first, Iran, Balkans and Ukraine followed. What is Turkish position and what to do? We should first list some of the problems in the region.

Some of the major conflicts in Eurasia

  • 1948– Arab–Israeli conflict
  • 1962–1970 North Yemen Civil War
  • 1978– Kurdish–Turkish conflict
  • 1979 Iranian Revolution
  • 1980–1988 Iran–Iraq War
  • 1988- Armenian- Azeri conflict
  • 1990–1991 Gulf War

The fire in the doorstep

You can’t sleep well while there’s a fire raging right in front of your door. In Turkey’s case the fire burns the borders and approaches to where the Turkish politicians sleep. The list above only includes some of the violence between peoples of the Eurasia. Yet there is worse. Economic and natural disasters have struck the area. The lands between West and East are now collapsing daily.

While hundred million Egyptians have water shortage, Ethiopians are struggling to come out of poverty. Arab states are promoting environmentalism to cover up their fossil debauchery, leading to a future catastrophe. Iran, Syria, Iraq and other Middle eastern countries are troubled with climate change, Desertification sweeps through Arabia to Turkey. Ukraine and Russia have major war and it doesn’t seem to be ending soon. Leading to the devastation of Eurasia due to them supplying energy and food to region. The situation in North Africa is as much as environmental and political. Greece collapsed and bailed out for its debts. Balkan countries still have ethnic and political tension after the war. The problems are numerous and as if these were not enough, there is an economic and seismic disaster in Turkey. Moreover, the pandemic only contributed to the regions demise.

The Turkish way out of Eurasian problems

The greatest economy of the region after Russia, Turkey should take the responsibility of the mentioned countries. Historical burden belongs to Turkey as she was ruling majority of the region. Not on ethnic grounds, but a geoghraphical one. This may seem a huge responsibility, yet the old Turkey, Ottoman Empire could only see the way out through owning the responsibility. Power comes with responsibility and freedom as a result.

Regrettably, Turkey does the worst through sleeping on the job. The job is not the military domination of the region. It’s become voluntary through economic relations. Just like Germany dominates European economy, Turkey should have dominated the region and make other countries desire to be part of a union with it. It’s a wu wei, efortless efort for a political actor to introduce opportunity for others and become a part of a whole bigger structure.

Sleeping through a fire is the worst strategy, since you’re going to awaken due to the pain. Turkish politicians, in other words government and the democrat people alltogether, should start to take measures for the fire in the doorstep. The first step should be to feel the responsibility of the tragic events. The responsibility of not taking action as the major, responsible player of the region. Than action will follow naturally if we sincirely feel it.

The first thing to do is to notice. We try to do that with this site and other civic efforts. Then it is necessary to establish a chain of reasoning. After the realization of these theoretical stages, we can take action in practice. Here we are obliged to provide theoretical preparation and turk.cafe is a representation of it.
